What Is Ujjwala Yojana?

The Ujjwala Yojana is a progressive scheme launched in the year 2016. Shri Narendra Modi launched this scheme for the betterment of the females who used to cook food without proper gas cylinders. Using wood and coal causes numerous health problems not only for them but also for the entire family.

There were hygiene issues, health issues, unavailability of proper breathable air, pollution, etc. Eradicating all these issues was the main aim of introducing the Ujjwala Yojana. Earlier, only 5 crore families were the government’s target. However, in the recently launched second phase, the government targets to benefit around 8 crore households. 

Benefits of PM Ujjwala Scheme

The central government launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana keeping poor women’s health in mind. 

• The woman’s account receives a direct deposit of Rs 1600 that she got under the plan.
• The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is exclusively available to low-income families.
• It used to only comprise five crore families. On the other hand, the number of beneficiaries has gone up after the change. Approximately 8 crore individuals have benefited from this scheme in the nation to date.
• Families in need receive cylinders through subsidies.
• The government provides three 14.2 kilogram cylinders for free every year.
• EMI is also available to anyone purchasing a gas stove and cylinder for the first time under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
• Many continue to cook on stoves even after receiving a gas connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. As a result, the government occasionally gives them advice.

Cooking was done in the past using coal or wood. As a result, not only was smoke produced, but there was also a negative influence on health and the indiscriminate use of natural resources. Activities included gathering wood from forests and burning coal in stoves. The environment became contaminated as a result. However, this has decreased after the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was implemented. Women are no longer exposed to the negative effects of smoking.

The second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by the Modi government at the Center following the success of the first phase.

Eligibility Criteria For This Scheme

• This scheme is open to female candidates only.
• The applying female must be an Indian resident and above 18 years old. 
• To avail of the benefits of the scheme, the annual income of the applicants should not exceed Rs 1 lakh in rural areas and Rs 2 lakh in urban areas.
• No other female in the family should be a beneficiary of this Ujjwala Yojana. 
• Females from backward and scheduled castes will be given priority in the scheme. 
• The applicant should have a BPL card.

• Find the form: Download form option on the homepage.
• Download: Click “download” to print.
• Fill in details: Complete all requested information.
• Submit documents: Duplicate form and necessary documents, then submit to nearest gas agency.
• Verify: Wait for the verification.
• Receive connection: Once verified, receive LPG gas connection.

Steps To Do Ujjwala Yojana KYC Offline

If you are also an LPG gas consumer and you are getting a gas subsidy, then to continue it, it is now mandatory for you to get E-KYC done. You can get E-KYC done by visiting your gas agency office between 10 AM to 5 PM. 

• First of all, you have to go to your respective gas agency. 
• You have to take your Aadhaar card and other identity-related documents with you to the gas agency where you have a connection. 
• After going there you have to contact the gas operator. 
• All the required documents have to be given to the operator.
• After this, your eyes and fingers will be scanned by the gas agency operator. 
• After verification, the gas connection will be provided and your LPG Gas E-KYC will be completed.

• Visit website: Go to My Bharat Gas official website https://my.ebharatgas.com/.
• Select option: Choose “Check if you need KYC” on the homepage.
• Download form: Download the e-KYC form in PDF format.
• Print form: Print the downloaded form.
• Fill form: Complete the form with required details and attach photocopies.
• Submit form: Go to the concerned agency and submit the form.
• Aadhaar authentication: The agency will perform Aadhaar authentication.
