What Happens At The Polling Booth

- Once you reach the polling station, your official ID will be requested by a poll worker, who will then verify your information.
- After they verify your documents and identity, you’ll need to get your index finger marked with election ink.
- You’ll need to mark your voter’s attendance through your signature on the given register. They’ll give you an acknowledgment slip once all is done.
- You’ll be allowed to enter the polling booth once you show your marked index finger. Don’t forget to hand over the confirmation slip to the polling officer.
- As soon as you enter the polling booth, you’ll see an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). You have to press the button which resembles the symbol of your desired candidate or political party.
- When you press it, you’ll hear a beep sound. Wait for this sound to get a confirmation that your vote has been successfully cast.
- After this, the information related to your selected one will be displayed on the VVPAT machine. This pops up in the form of a slip for seven seconds and then submitted in the VVPAT box.
- If you don’t want to choose any political party, then you may simply press the NOTA option. This means you’re choosing none of the candidates.
- Remember not to take mobiles and any other such item at the polling booth. You can hand it over to someone or submit them at the booth.
