What Is An E-Shram Card and Its Features?

Initiated by the honorable PM, Narendra Modi, the e-shram card is a ground-breaking program that offers a safety net to the workers and laborers of the unorganized sector. It not only works as a registering portal but also is a comprehensive database to allow easy access to numerous welfare programs and benefits run by the Indian government. 

This covers laborers, people making a daily salary, and people in other non-formal jobs. Crucially, you ought not to be a part of the National Pension Scheme (NPS) or the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)/Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). If your age is between 16 and 59, you’re free to apply for the e-shram card. 

Eligibility Criteria For e-Shram Card

• You can enjoy the benefits of this scheme only if you’re an Indian native.
• You should not be enrolled in the income taxpayer list.
• No person below the age of 16 or above 59 years can apply for the e-shram card.
• You must own a ration card in your name and have an active bank account. 
• You need to authenticate your mobile number with the Aadhar Card for successful registration.
• No one in your household should be working as a government employee. 
• The e-shram card scheme is for all economically backward Indian citizens regardless of their caste, religion, etc.

E-Shram Card Registration- The Application Process

You must be aware that the e-shram card registration process is completely free and you don’t need to put any extra effort to register yourself for the e-shram card. The steps for doing the same are as follows:

• Visit the self-registration page of the e-Shram site.
• Enter the captcha code and mobile number connected to Aadhaar, then select “Send OTP.”
• After entering the OTP that you received on the registered cellphone number, click “Validate.”
• Verify the personal information displayed on the screen.
• Give the required details, such as your address and educational background.
• Select the skill name and indicate the kind of work and the nature of the business.
• Choose self-declaration and input your bank information.
• After checking the entered information, click “Preview” and then “Submit.”
• Get a new OTP, input it, and select “Verify.”
• After generation, the e-Shram card appears on the screen.

What Are The Documents Required For The E-Shram Card?

Before you think of availing the benefits of the e-shram card, we’d like to familiarize you with the list of documents required to get an e-shram card. You need to have the following documents:

• Domicile Certificate

How To Download The E-Shram Card

• Go to the e-Shram website by clicking on the link— www.eshram.gov.in.
• To update or download your UAN card, click the “Already Registered” tab.
• Click “Generate OTP” after entering the captcha code, date of birth, and UAN number.
• Click “Validate” after entering the OTP that was sent to the mobile number.
• Verify the personal information displayed on the screen.
• After checking the entered information with the “Preview” option, click “Submit” to proceed.
• To the mobile number, an OTP will be delivered. After entering the OTP, press the “Verify” button.
• The screen displays the created e-Shram card.
• You can also download the e-Shram card by selecting the download option. 

E-Shram Card Payment Status Check 2024

To check the payment status of your e-shram card, you are required to follow these steps:

• Before all, you need to go to the e-Shram website.
• Here, you’ve to choose the ‘E-Aadhaar Card Beneficiary Status Check’ option.
• Enter the number from your Aadhar card, UAN, or e-Shram card. Any of the following is acceptable. 
• Once done, simply navigate and hit the “Submit” button.
• Examine the e-Shram payment status that’s shown on the screen.
