What Is The PM Awas Yojana?
As mentioned earlier, PM Awas Yojana is an incredible scheme to help poor families in the construction of their permanent homes. It is more than a welfare scheme. The government aims to construct “pucca” houses for those residents living in the “kutcha” houses.
Under PMAY, a total target of 2.95 crore pucca houses has been set so far. Among this list, around 118.9 lakh houses have been approved under the scheme for urban areas. Till now, 75.51 lakh houses have been completed under PM Awas Yojana New Registration 2024.
An assistance of Rs 147916 crore has been released by the Central Government. With the help of this amount, the last date for constructing a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is 31 December 2024. The major beneficiaries of this scheme are the poor and lower-class people.
Objectives Of PM Awas Yojana
- The main aim of this scheme is to allow all Indian citizens a permanent house.
- The government has to provide housing facilities to provide permanent homes to families below the poverty line.
- To provide financial assistance or pucca houses along with all basic amenities like electricity supply, sanitation, etc. water facility to the families living in kutcha houses in rural areas of India.

- To provide affordable and cheap housing to imported and economically weaker families from rural areas in urban areas.

Eligibility Criteria: PM Awas Yojana Registration 2024
- The applicant’s citizen must be a native of India.
- The minimum age limit of the applicant should be 18 years.
- The person applying should not already have a permanent house.
- The man or woman who will be the applicant should not have any property in his name or the name of any member of his family.
- Before this, the applicant must have availed the benefit of PM Awas Yojana New Registration 2024 in any way.
- The applicant should have all the documents required for Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2023-24.
- It is mandatory to have an income certificate stating that the person or woman applying is living below the poverty line.
- Only one person in the family can avail of the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.
- Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, separate amounts will be made available to rural areas and urban areas through DBT.
